Last week, I had the pleasure of participating in a truly inspiring panel at the New Visions for Sonic Identities event, where we dove deep into some of the most exciting innovations happening in music and sound. What really stood out to me was the incredible contribution of emerging German startups, particularly those from the eastern regions—a place that is, of course, very close to my heart.

Our discussion revolved around the evolving concept of sonic identity and how AI is set to transform the way brands discover, refine, and amplify their unique voices. AI isn’t just changing how we think about sound—it's opening up new avenues for artists and brands to collaborate more closely and meaningfully, allowing them to build deeper connections and create more authentic expressions of their brand identity.

One of the most engaging conversations centered around the ability of AI to help brands scale personalization without losing their distinct sound. Technologies like voice cloning are making it possible to deliver consistent, recognizable audio experiences across a broad range of touch points—at a scale we’ve never seen before.

For me, sound is an integral part of who we are as humans. It’s been with us throughout our evolution, and now, brands have a unique opportunity to leverage it in ways that resonate on a deeply personal level. With AI-driven tools, brands can craft sonic identities that are more than just memorable—they can be truly impactful, relevant, and culturally connected.

Of course, no discussion about AI is complete without addressing the need for diversity and inclusion. I made a point to emphasize that as we move forward, it’s critical for brands, artists, and creatives to demand inclusivity in AI development. A standout example we discussed was Philippa—the world’s first transgender cloned voice, who’s now the official announcer for Berlin’s public transport. This remarkable initiative, led by Why do birds, demonstrates the kind of innovation we need more of in this space.

To sum up, the New Visions for Sonic Identities event was a powerful reminder of AI’s transformative role in shaping the future of sonic branding. It also reinforced the importance of inclusivity as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with sound and AI.
