Responsible AI, Copyright, and Europe’s Global Creative Future
Last week AudioStack was invited to speak at Leinster House, the seat of the Oireachtas, Ireland’s national parliament.

Last week Enda Parker, our Director of Business Development - Publishers EUK, had the privilege of speaking at Leinster House, the seat of the Oireachtas, Ireland’s national parliament. The event was hosted by TD Malcolm Byrne, the Chair of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Artificial Intelligence.
The session brought together members of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann to discuss how Ireland, and increasingly Europe, can embrace artificial intelligence while protecting creators, rights holders, and the integrity of our creative industries.
The event supported IRMA’s efforts to ensure that future AI regulation, both in Ireland and at the EU level, remains grounded in respect for copyright, licensing, and ethical data use.
Enda spoke alongside:
Mark Crossingham, Universal Music Ireland
David Kitching, Irish Recorded Music Association
Supported by:
Priscilla Kotey, Warner Music Ireland Ltd
Annette Donnelly, Sony Music Entertainment Ireland Ltd
Alan Hennessy, Bohemia Records
Niall Muckian, Rubyworks
This discussion extends far beyond national borders. It is part of a global conversation about how creative industries and technology should co-evolve.
A European and Global Moment
The European Union is already one of the most active regions globally in shaping AI governance, digital market regulation, and copyright frameworks. With Ireland set to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union later this year, the importance of these conversations is amplified. The direction set here will influence regulatory thinking across the EU and beyond.
But Europe is not alone in grappling with these questions. Around the world, governments, industry bodies, and civil society organisations are engaging with issues of AI transparency, training data ethics, rights protection, and responsible innovation.
AudioStack’s Work on Responsible AI
At AudioStack, we have consistently engaged with these conversations in multiple jurisdictions. Our commitment is not theoretical; it is practical and ongoing.
One example is our participation in the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), a global collaboration of creators, platforms, and technologists designed to improve metadata transparency and attribution across digital media. The CAI’s work helps ensure that content provenance is visible and trustworthy, supporting creators and audiences alike.
We have also worked constructively with partners and regulators in other countries to inform policy discussions around AI, copyright, and creative rights. These engagements give us a frontline view of how different jurisdictions are approaching key issues such as:
AI training data standards
Attribution and provenance mechanisms
Ethical data management
Copyright enforcement in an AI context
Our work with regulators and cross-industry bodies reflects a belief that responsible AI is not defined in isolation. It is shaped by collaboration between industry, government, creators, and civil society at both national and international levels.
Responsible Innovation in Practice
AI is already transforming how media is produced, distributed, and monetised. That transformation is not inherently positive or negative; its impact depends on the frameworks that govern it.
At AudioStack, we advocate for:
Respecting copyright and licensing frameworks
Transparent and ethical use of training data
Attribution and provenance standards (like those promoted by the CAI)
Policy engagement that reflects the needs of creators and rights holders
These are not abstract principles. They are operational foundations for a sustainable creative economy in the age of AI.
Innovation without accountability erodes trust. Trust is the currency of the creative economy. Without it, creators and audiences alike lose confidence in both technology and content.

From Dublin to the World
The engagement from members of Ireland’s parliament was constructive and forward-looking. What was striking was not simply agreement on principles, but recognition that these ideas are already being put into practice internationally.
As Ireland prepares to take on the EU Presidency later this year, and as jurisdictions around the world continue to debate AI policy, there is an opportunity to shape standards that balance ambition with accountability.
That balance, between innovation and protection, will define whether AI strengthens creative industries or destabilises them.
At AudioStack, we are committed to being part of that future, not only in Europe and the UK, but globally.
